A week ago, the soccer team that I coach had a friday night home game under the lights. It was senior night, and we celebrated with a huge all-school bonfire afterwards. We stacked pallets about 8 feet high and 15 feet wide. The flame (at times) reached 30 feet tall. It was awesome. It was so hot that there was about a 20 foot "wall" of heat that you really couldn't even approach it. It was a great time!

This looks a lot like the bonfires my dad likes to have... although they usually end with the fire department showing up. What a great idea.
This reminds me of my high school days.
yeah- we had never done anything like this before. Definitely had the fire department's permission before hand... our campus is right next to apartments where many elderly citizens live. I had the permit with me in my pocket in case anybody complained!
I'm hoping this becomes a tradition.
Sounds a lot like the traditions they have at Texas A & M. Jim's brother Glenn went there and talked about this on an even larger scale.
