Measuring Stick

As we all mourn the loss of Auntie Jean, I was reflecting on her quiet, constant service and the way in which she always lived for others.

She was a great example to all of us.

Growing up as a member of Yous Kids, it was always a rite of passage when you grew tall enough to be bigger than Auntie Jean. It was as if you "had arrived." She was a kind of "measuring stick" for the Van Drunen fam kids as we physically matured.

Since I heard that Auntie Jean had gone home to be with The Lord, I've been thinking about how she served Him so well for so long. I can't help but to think of her in a new light- as a spiritual measuring stick. Auntie Jean was a giant in the faith. We are all blessed to have known such a great living example of sanctification- becoming more like Jesus every day. I love to picture Auntie Jean in the direct presence of her Lord and Savior with no more physical ailments- a perfect body and a perfect soul worshiping her perfect God perfectly.

Thank you Auntie Jean. We will miss you- and "see you later!"

(I love this vid memory of when Sawyer was a newborn and Auntie Lee and Auntie Jean came to visit!)
