Moms

As I layed in bed at 4:30 this morning listening to my son screaming I was reminded at how wonderful moms are. I mean you have a kid with a 104.5 fever, he won't sleep during the day and then because he is over tired he won't sleep at night. By the way that still doesn't make any sense to me, must be that "whole fall of man thing" but I digress. Grandma happy birthday! we wish we could have been there. And to all the moms on this blog we are better people because of you.

Helpful Blogging Hints

After today's "yous kids 101" (a phrase coined by Nick) at Keith and Cher's house (delicious food and a good time by the way), I thought that it might be helpful to post some "helpful blogging hints" that might answer some questions you might have about the blogging world.

As pictured above, these hints are underneath the family calendar on the right hand side of the blog- and they will stay there for future reference.

Let me know if there's anything else that you'd like to know how to do, and I'll try my best to find some step-by-step instructions.

Keith is on line

This evening I was surfing the web and rode a wave into this "yous kids" website. I feel like I'm hanging ten on Kealakekua Bay. The gigs in my computer are really gigin! A my space website for Mr. Keith is in the works. I'm going to be looking at more hits than a Mohammed Ali vs Joe Frazier title fight. I plan on dropping an e-mail to B.G. (thats Bill Gates to yous guys) and giving him some of my ideas. As you will find out when this hot dogger cracks a wave there is no rip tide, we are going down the mine and a wipe out is out of the question. Blog ON! Mr. Keith
P.S. Before this is over you may have to shut me down, and Jason.........you may be preaching to the choir.

Trial 1

Keith and Cher are coming to Yous Kids... watch out.

I have a... What?!?!

Monday was a rough day for MLK Jr... first "our nation's first black president" falls asleep during a speech about him, and now these idiots get air time on a new channel in Texas.

This must be what an MLK Jr. nightmare looked like.

Mini A-Team

For all of you 1980's pop culture fans, I found this pic of a Miniature A-Team "van" while surfing the web that I thought was blog-worthy. I don't think there'd be enough room for B.A. Baraccus' jewelry in this thing... let alone all four team members.

Clinton "Has a Dream"

Check out this hilarious video of how Bill Clinton celebrated MLK day.
If I could I'd give all you Packer fans a box of Kleenex. That game was incredible (I have to admit I was rooting for the Packers). I could hear Aunt Kathy yelling "Come on!!" all the way in Dyer. I guess I'll have to root for the Giants now that Favre is out.

Kouts Basketball Highlight

Karley's basketball team won the PCC (Porter County Conference) championship game on Saturday night in Valparaiso. Our school hasn't won this tournament in 17 years. There were 4,000 people in attendance. She played a great game, having two " back -t0 -back " 3's (one a bank shot) at a crucial turning point in the game. She also posted 15 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 assists, 2 blocks, along with 8 points. She was also the recipient of the Mental Attitude Award which is given to one player from the whole conference (8 schools). It was an exciting night of Hoosier basketball at it's best. This was also the 50th anniversary of the conference tournament so it was taped for a DVD and ran live on the radio. I ordered the DVD for anyone to borrow.

the first snowman

Just a short congratulations to Kyle on making his first snowman ever on New Years Eve. Yes, he's 32 and this was the very first one. We were up in Holland, Michigan and had beautiful packing snow, so to ring in the New Year, we built a snowman, then had a good old-fashioned snowball fight. Thanks to Kyle for the snowball to the back of the head.

She'll always be our queen!

Last night was Illiana's homecoming game. Unfortunately, Liz is not "Ms. Illiana". While she was not "Ms. Illiana", she certainly looked like royalty (It runs in the family). The VanDrunen family was well represented at the game and crowning. Nick, Karen, Nikki, Kristen & kids, Grandma & Grandpa, Karley, Mike, Kim, Scott, Becky, Keith, Cheryl, Emily & roommate, and Eric were all there to support Liz. Though she is not the queen of Illiana, she'll always be our queen.

Grant Bouwer played a great game, helping the team to a close win over Aurora Christian.

Anything to move Rudi's Facial Hair down a notch

There is no real reason for this post other than to remove Rudi's fu manchu down from top spot on the blog.

Also, Go Pack!!!

Christmas Break Pictures

Here's a slideshow of a few pictures from my week of Christmas Break with the family. I had a great time and happy new year to everyone!

Passport

To all Van Drunen Canada participants:

When going to Canada fishing this year, you will need a passport to cross the border. It would be good to get them early, as it could take a long time to receive one.

2008

Dear Family,

"Happy New Year" - We have about 6" of snow this morning. It looks beautiful. Be careful driving today. It's a good day to play in the snow. We will look at it from inside.
