Chillin' with the boys

At the end of last week, Justin was invited for a sleepover at Craig's. When you are 6, can you think of a better way to spend your night? He had an awesome time mostly playing video games with Craig and his roommate. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be exact.

He spend the next 2 days catching up on his sleep, because he got to experience the college schedule. I actually got a nap out of him the next day, which he never does any more. Since our kid's don't have any 1st cousins nearby, it's been so great that they can be close to their 2nd cousins, too.

Thanks for the fun night, Craig! Justin had a blast and it meant a lot to us that you made the effort!

How old are your ears? "Mosquito Noise" Buzzes the Answer...

I came across this new development which was news to me, though I'm sure that some of you have heard about this.

A "Mosquito Noise" (likely call this because of the high-shrill-pitch) has been patented that basically works like a dog-whistle for kids. This high-pitch frequency can be heard by young people, but not older people.

Some of the developments off of this has been students using this pitch (at low volumes) as a ring-tone for texting in their classrooms (all students can hear, but teachers can't), and in 7-11's store managers can blast this obnoxious noise (at a shrill level that the manager can't hear) to keep out teenage loiterers.

This lead to my genius million dollar idea: figure out how to pump this noise up to max levels, and create "noise bombs" for riot control. Equip the younger police with ear protection, and launch these noise bombs into a riotous crowd. Most riots are younger people that will be able to hear the noise, and, if they can and it's loud enough, this would be paralyzing. You could patent this idea and sell it to every police force in the world. I'm sure that there are military advantages to this as well. Anyone that wants to invest, I'll be happy to line up a "how-to" guy to make this happen.

Click the link below to see if you can hear the noise. I am proud to say that I can. Kids, it might be cool to see if you can hear it, but your parents can’t!

Warning, before you play this, you might want to turn your speakers down... I blasted it and it really hurt my head.

College Decision

I just wanted to let my family know that I am going to Trinity this fall. I'm going potluck as far as a roommate. I guess it's official: I'm a Troll.

P.S. Assuming my roommates are good with it, I look forward to many nap opportunities on the treasured golden sofa. It will add a homely touch to my dorm.

Thanks for praying!

Nikki's appointment at Northwestern went well today. The MRI scans showed that her tumor continues to be stable, no new growth. Dr. Raizer said he wished her tumor was "melting away", but this is still good. He also gave Nikki great news in that she doesn't have to have her next MRIs done until July (3 months instead of 2), since she has been stable for so long. She will continue on the chemo meds, and see Nurse Laurie every month for checkups.
Thank you for continuing to pray for us. We are thankful for God's grace & mercy, and His faithfulness... All Praise Be To His Name!

Walk for Crohn's

Hello family I figured the best way to get in touch with most everybody was through the beloved blog. Me and some friends are doing a walk for Crohns disease on June 8 at Lisle Community Park starting at 5:30. The walk is just one distance, so its not how many miles we walk but more how much we raise. If you would like to join the team just let me know and that would rock, and if you would like to donate you can go through my website http://www.active.com/donate/takestepsCWS07/CVanDyk2 and it will take you through the steps or get a hold of me and I would love to tell you more. Thanks for the family support!

Vantage Point?

I ran across this story on abcnews.com. This picture is shockingly similar to scenes in the movie "Vantage Point" in which the President is shot. This picture was taken in Croatia in St. Mark's square. The President was congratulating Croatia and Albania for their invitations to join NATO. I can see Dennis Quaid looking into those windows.

We're shutting down Yous Kids.

Family, after some very careful consideration, I've decided that I am going to delete this family blog. Thanks for your participation. I hope that you don't mind.
