Here Comes the Sawyer

A video compilation of my daughter's recent escapades.

Spring Break

Well spring break began with very little planning. My friends, Matt, Sam, and I left on thursday after school headed for Panama City, Florida. We drove straight through the night and arrived around 8 in the morning. We didn't plan to stay in any hotels so we found the perfect public parking spot. After we parked our car didn't move for 5 days. The first day we killed the battery and had to get it jumped and the second day we locked the keys in our hotel(car). We slept in the car for 5 days and in order to use restrooms we helped a man named Bayou. Bayou, who was a bar janitor, sported a weathered foo man shoo and a 3 foot long pony tail. Our parking spot was close to the back of a bar and a Wendys and we noticed Bayou in the mornings. So since we helped him clean up trash, we had unlimited access to the bar's restroom. In Panama, we played baggo on the beach and walked all over the main strip. In the mornings we would make a 2 mile journey to a bowling alley that a christian youth group from Texas A&M would give away free pancakes. We would hang out and shoot pool with the group. After 5 days of showering we began to notice the odor coming from our bodies. So we decided it was time to move on. We had originally planned on heading to Ft. Myers but instead we went to New Orleans. On the way to New Orleans we grabbed our only hotel and got a few uncramped hours of sleep and our only shower of the trip. We arrived in New Orleans on the morning of St. Pattys. We listened to some country bluegrass and ate oysters and gumbo. We also met our long lost friend Lenny Kravitz on Bourbon Street. We talked for a minute and then he wanted to get away.... and flyyyyyyy awayyyyyyyy. (Lenny Kravitz Song) After exploring the city we hung out with some real life hobos. Yes they are real. They were around the local rail yard. They each were waiting for different trains to catch going different places. They all smelled worse then us and they all had a dog that accompanied them. After they finished their what seemed to be water bottles... or at least they made it look like water when in reality it was vodka, we decided that we should maybe leave them alone. So that night we slept in a local parking garage and viewed the WWII museum the next morning. It was extremely interesting and the reason the museum is in N.O. is because of Andrew J. Higgins. Higgins created and manufactured military beach landing boats in New Orleans. General Eisenhower was quoted saying, "Without the boats we would have had to rethink the war's strategy". After the museum we headed to Memphis and planned on seeing Graceland until we noticed how expensive it was and how broke we were so we just headed home.

Spring Break

Last week Anna, Liz, our roomies Mel, Lauren, Susan, and I went to Florida for our Spring Break. Uncle Nick and Aunt Karen were very generous for letting us stay at their place, and we loved it! We had a blast just going to the beach or pool during the day and then going out at night. We all got along great(and we even let the other girls have the big room). We didn't get in trouble with any of the neighbors this year, but we did see some make some extremely long stops at the stop sign and looking in our direction, almost like they were trying to look into the kitchen window, but I'm sure we were just being paranoid. Also, Scott met us at the Parrot Key one night for dinner and then we went out for ice cream on the beach. Scott got asked a few times what his trick was to get with so many girls(we didn't say that half of us were his cousins). The other girls often complained of us taking so many cousin pictures, but we all know they were just jealous.

Highlights of the trip:
*Anna got told by an old man at the pool that she looks funny in a two-piece, meanwhile Liz and I are "sleeping" so we don't have to be involved in this conversation. Sorry Anna!
* Almost having to stay in Florida an extra night because we almost didn't get through security on time. God was on our side that night.
* riding the tricycle-well that was my highlight
* making our own dinners
* getting ice cream AT LEAST once a day
* no homework
* being able to spend a great break with family and friends :)

My newly favorite Encyclopedia

I was trolling the internets the other day using the google machine (or the button machine for Sawyer) when I discovered that I had finally made it to the big time. That's right - I am officially on Wikipedia.

If you don't believe me, here is the link for proof - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yale_Journal_on_Regulation

Yous Kids T-Shirts??

Yous Kids:

I suddenly had an idea... with this Summer's 55th anniversary spectacular for Grandpa and Grandma and the Blue Harbor fun that will ensue... what if we commemorated this event/get together with family t-shirts?

We could use some of the more artistic people in our family to design the shirt, use someone's connection with a t-shirt company, and buy some shirts, and give them out this summer. Perhaps we could use the orange couch logo from the blog??

If anyone wants to run with this... please feel free.

Recent Sawyer Pictures

Sorry it's been so long since my last post... it's been a busy time. Here's a compilation of recent Sawyer pictures.  She's walking, talking, and apparently modeling bathing suits.
