Gesch Fam Up North

Gesch fam is up in Birchwood for the long weekend. Having a great time! In her first time fishing, Sawyer landed 23 fish off the pier, including many Bluegills and Sunfish, a Rock Bass, and one really nice crappie.

When we got here yesterday, and we had been here for no more than 5 minutes, she asked, "Who's house is this?" We told her, "Great Grandma and Grandpa Van Drunen."  She replied, "Let's just call it 'Sawyer's House'!"

Measuring Stick

As we all mourn the loss of Auntie Jean, I was reflecting on her quiet, constant service and the way in which she always lived for others.

She was a great example to all of us.

Growing up as a member of Yous Kids, it was always a rite of passage when you grew tall enough to be bigger than Auntie Jean. It was as if you "had arrived." She was a kind of "measuring stick" for the Van Drunen fam kids as we physically matured.

Since I heard that Auntie Jean had gone home to be with The Lord, I've been thinking about how she served Him so well for so long. I can't help but to think of her in a new light- as a spiritual measuring stick. Auntie Jean was a giant in the faith. We are all blessed to have known such a great living example of sanctification- becoming more like Jesus every day. I love to picture Auntie Jean in the direct presence of her Lord and Savior with no more physical ailments- a perfect body and a perfect soul worshiping her perfect God perfectly.

Thank you Auntie Jean. We will miss you- and "see you later!"

(I love this vid memory of when Sawyer was a newborn and Auntie Lee and Auntie Jean came to visit!)
