your Sportsline account and sign-in. Draft order was randomly selected
by Sportsline. Karyl got first.
Considering I don't believe
any of us are leaving our family any time soon, we are creating a keeper
league. This means next year you will be able to keep anyone you draft
this year, as long as you are willing to give up the draft pick 3
rounds earlier next year. For example, someone you draft in the 5th
round this year will need to be your 2nd round pick next year if you'd
like to keep them. This will affect draft strategy in later rounds.
(You can pick more rookies, young players, etc.)
Again, draft
is Sunday night at 6 p.m. at Nick and Karen's. If you can't be there in
person, be there on-line, you will go to our league page on Sportsline
and click "enter the draft room". If you can't be on-line, designate
someone to pick for you and let me know who that someone is.

House Progress
Last Monday, I made the trek out to DC. On Saturday, while Heidi and I were running wedding-related errands, we stopped by our construction site to see our home in progress. As you can see, we have progressed a little beyond a flat piece of dirt (Ours is the second framed-up house from the right).

Fantasy Football Draft Fast Approaching
O.K., here's who I have: Caleb, Jim, Scott, Conor, Grandpa, Anna, Craig, Mark, Karyl, Karen, Rudi, Karley, Sam, Jason/Justin. I need e-mails for all of you. Send them to jdevries@faithchurchonline.org . I will then be able to send out an e-mail invitation from our league which gives you access to the website.
I understand some of you can't be there for the draft which is at 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 2 at Nick and Karen's. No problem, if you have computer access where you are you can go to the website and enter the "Draft Room" to make your picks. If this is not an option, you can skype, text or otherwise communicate with someone at the draft to make your picks. If for some reason you are nowhere near technology, please designate someone to pick for you.
Some are also wondering how to pick. We will be picking 2 Quarterbacks, 4 Running Backs, 6 Wide Receivers or Tight Ends or any combination thereof, 2 Kickers and 2 Defenses which also give you those teams Special Teams.
Once I set-up the scoring system the website will tell you who the best overall players remaining and best remaining players by position. You can use this at the draft to pick. You can also use on-line ratings or magazines. All positions try to be weighted the same so that if a player has a great game at any position they earn the same amount of points.

Fantasy Football 2012
Our first season was good, but we're kicking it up a notch! This year the Yous Kids Fantasy Football league will include a live draft and improved web site. We're going to switch over to CBS Sportsline which I think is a better option for us.
The draft is slated for Sunday, September 2, 6 p.m. central time. Draft Central will be my mom & dad's. If you can't make it to the center of the action you will be able to connect through the internets and the wonderful world web to make your picks. (However, trust me, the trash talk and hilarities that will ensue in the basement of 1442 E. 168th St. will be worth your attendance.) If all of that fails, you can also designate someone to pick for you, but quite honestly, you can't complain if you do that.
What I need to know is if you're in. Let me know by Aug. 15 so that we can set draft order, get out rules and draft prep information. (There will be probably a $10 cost for the web site, if that's an issue, let me know kjdv1@sbcglobal.net)
