Yous Kids Recipe o' the Week (week 1)

Yous Kids: as promised, we will now start the "Yous Kids Recipe o' the week".  Here's the idea: one family member posts a recipe on the weekend- all brave Yous Kids that are willing and able attempt to recreate this dish during the course of the week.  We can then discuss the dish and expand our recipe books (and maybe our waistlines).

Here's the schedule:
Week 1: Stephanie and Rudi
Week 2: Karyl and Dyke
Week 3: Kristin and Jason
Week 4: Kim and Mike
Week 5: Kathy and Brian
Week 6: Grandpa and Grandma
Week 7: Kelly and Jim
Week 8: Alex (and Italian roommate)
Week 9: Lee and Jean (**updated list**)

Week 1: Stephanie's cheesy chicken crescent rolls
Ingredients (recommended doubling recipe to use entire chicken... reheats very well):
  • 1 3/4 C Shredded Cooked chicken (I use a rotissery chicken)
  • 1/2 C shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 8 oz. pkg crescent rolls
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 C milk

Instructions:
  • Heat soup, milk, 1/4 cup of cheese until melted
  • Mix chicken and 2 T cheese and spoon into crescent rolls
  • Roll crescent rolls up from wide end
  • Pour 1/2 of soup mixture into 9x13 dish and put crescent rolls on top
  • Pour the remainder of soup mixture on top of crescent rolls
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes
  • Sprinkle the rest of cheese on the crescent rolls
  • Bake at 350 for 5 more minutes
  • Serve and Enjoy!

by the way... for those of you wondering how I picked the "schedule" for the next 8 weeks- after having Steph take the first week, I took the Biblical principal of "the last shall be first." So, in reverse order of the way that you all signed up.

For those of you who still want to get on board, feel free to sign up at your leisure.

Bon appetite!

Dear Rudi,
Ant Lee and Jean want to be included in the "Recipe of the Week". We are sending this request from Birchwood.

Just a quick clarification on the recipe....am I rolling the crescent rolls into individual rolls that are placed on top? Rather than the whole tube being rolled as one? Sorry, sometimes I am very detailed and I don't want to ruin a good recipe! I will try it this week.

Yes- Roll them individually.

Response from Birchwood ---
We had the "Recie o' the Week" for supper tonight. Glenn & Millie Rietveld shared it with us. It was a huge success. Grandpa was scraping the bottom of the pan. Keep those recipes coming.

I made this recipe last night. Quick, easy, delicious!

I made the recipe and tried it out on Conor and Cole. I didn't give any information to them ahead of time, and they both said, "this is really good". So I'd say it's a success! Although Conor did say where is all the "extras" meaning vegetables, potatoes, etc. to go with it? (That's Dyke's child!)
