Hey Fam, How is everyone doing? Just recently we visited Sinjar Mountain and I thought most of you would find it interesting. The picture shows us in front of a 2000 year old temple which is supposedly the spot that God cast the devil into hell. Unfortunatly we werent allowed to go inside. Only the Yazidi people are allowed. The temple is called the Chermera which means 40 men. It is believed to be derived from the burial of 40 men on top of the mountain. I also found it interesting that not to far from the temple is about 6 different launch pads for scud missiles. These were used by Saddams regime to launch attacks in the Persian Gulf War, Iran-Iraq War, and even at he beginning of OIF. At the beginning of OIF they launched 8 scud missiles at US forces in Kuwait. Too bad for Saddam though, because American forces destroyed them before they ever got close to doing any damage. So a little lesson in history for the day! Take Care

Sandstone Peak
Every once and a while we take a break from school to refresh our sanity. This past Saturday we hiked to the top of Mount Allen (or Sandstone Peak), which is the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains and was donated by Mr. Allen to the Boy Scouts of America. It is not exactly Mt. Kilimanjaro, but it was a lot of fun.

Apparently I decided to rep my alma mater

Taylor 's baseball game @ Railcats Stadium
Hey family, If you are interested... Taylor will be playing a baseball game with Kouts High School at Railcats Stadium in Gary on Saturday April 18, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m. We've gone to these games before and the atmosphere is really fun. If you are interested I can get tickets ahead that help support our school for $3.00 each. Otherwise, they are $5.00 at the door. If you go, dress warm! It's always colder by the lake.
Hi Fam!
For three weeks in May, I will be heading to Honduras for a study abroad trip. I will be observing and helping out in a bilingual elementary school. For two of the days, we will go to 2-3 rural schools, bringing supplies and food. These schools rely on Purdue for needed supplies. However, it is up to the students studying abroad to raise support for these schools. It would be amazing to bless the socks off these kids and teachers!
If any of you would like to donate a few dollars, I can take the donations at Easter.
Thanks! Can't wait to see you all!!

A Great Week In Florida!
Me, Karley, Liz, Susan, Karyn, and Melanie got to spend Spring Break this year at Aunt Karen and Uncle Nick's house in Ft. Myers. My parents were there for two of the nights, otherwise we were on our own. We had an amazing time making shirts, going out to eat, playing volleyball, going to the pool, cooking dinner, parasailing, eating ice cream, watching movies, laying out at the beach, and even going to the library (that was ALL Liz) These pictures are mainly of me because they are from my camera, but hopefully you get the overall effect). We owe it all to Karen and Nick for making it possible!!

Mockoo Shockoo
I figured out how to make these slideshows and just recently got some internet so I decided to put this all together. Things are going well and I obviously cant share too terribly much but these are few pictures of where weve been and whats going on. The story behind Chuck the duck, who appears in some of these photos, is that he has gone everywhere and does everything we do. Its a little something to make things more exciting and fun. I recently have had a blast with the locals here and drank some of the chai tea I was offered. Its rude to turn down whatever they offer and im glad i didnt because this stuff was delicious! The kids here are wonderful as well although they want and want and want. We do out best to give them essentials and candy if possible but there are too many to please them all. Im also growing a "wicked" mustache.. not really... but its comming. Actually some of the Iraqi police were making fun of it because it was blonde and thin.. it made for good conversation though. haha.. Well i hope all is well with the family back home and Ill do my best to keep in touch.
